Urban Data Science for Social Good

The Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) summer program brings together data and domain scientists to work on focused, collaborative projects that are designed to impact public policy for societal benefit.

Modeled after similar programs at the University of Chicago and Georgia Tech, with elements from the University of Washington's eScience Institute's Data Science Incubator, DSSG Student Fellows are selected to work with academic researchers, data scientists, and public stakeholder groups on data-intensive research projects.

This year both the University of Washington and the University of British Columbia will be hosting independent DSSG programs, which will culminate in a cross university symposium to share in experiences, resaerch and lessons learned.
